Maria Stefanidis is an architect and academic practicing and teaching in Athens, Greece.
She holds a Columbia University Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design and a Professional Degree – Diploma in Architectural Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
She is the cofounder of the awarded architecture, design and animation practice “atelier pm”, based in Athens. She is a licensed architect, member of Technical Chamber of Greece, and an AIA Ιnternational Associate. She has worked in New York for G TECTS and SOM, for commercial, residential, institutional and interior as well as graphics and identity projects. She maintained a remote collaboration with Lightfield, New York.
Maria teaches architectural design and digital imaging & graphics being a Senior Architecture Lecturer & Supporting Studies Module Leader in BA(Hons) Architecture RIBA Part 1 of Metropolitan College, School of Engineering & Architecture, Athens, Greece. She has taught as Teaching Associate architectural design studios in master courses of Harvard University Graduate School of Design and Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation.
She has been invited as a critic in Columbia University, Pratt Institute and Rhode Island School of Design. She has participated in international workshops and seminars in Greece, USA, Japan, Spain, Hungary, Italy and in exhibitions in the framework of ΧV Pan-American Biennale of Quito, Τhe 10th Venice Architecture Biennale, Athens Cultural Olympiad, Thessaloniki Dimitria and Τhe Torino Biennale of Emerging Art. She was a member of CTRL CE, participating in exhibitions that travelled in Athens – DESTE Foundation, Brussels, Bari and Sevilla.
Her skills and research interest focus on a constructivist approach to compositional digital imaging.
